Hello Creatives!!
If you are reading this and are from the US it’s Thanksgiving weekend!
Happy Thanksgiving!!
I hope you have had the chance to spend time with those you love.
We are in that season of thankfulness. That season of remembering what and who makes are our lives amazing.
However, it’s not always easy when there are so many negative things in the world and in our own personal lives.
On the Faithful Sunday, I want to share a verse from Hebrews 12:28. It says”
Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful
Ingredients
For this project you will need:
- Faith Impressions by Keri Sallee for Gel Press border plate
- Ranger Archival Ink in Jet Black
- Leaf Stamps (I used stamps from Unity Stamp Company)
- Pebeo Studio Acrylic in Copper
- DecoArt Metallics in Gold
- Gel Press Brayer
- Brown Marker
Beautifully Simple
This technique is one of my favorite ways to make a graphic background using my Gel Press Plates.
We are going to start with our leaf stamps and our Archival Ink.
TIP: If you would prefer a more subtle background, use the Archival Ink pad in Sepia!
Stamp your leaves onto your border plate, overlapping to give the impressions of fallen leaves. My set comes with three different leaf designs which adds a lot of visual interest.
Before moving on to the next step, make sure your black is completely dry! If you don’t, you’re image will lose it’s crispness and your paint will be tinted with the black ink.
Copper and gold just SCREAM fancy Thanksgiving for me and the Pebeo Copper is my all-time favorite.
Dot some of each color on your plate and use your Gel Press Brayer to move it over your plate
Using your acrylic block, flip your plate over and press onto the surface of your journaling bible or whatever you are printing on.
Give it a couple of good presses before peeling back.
TIP: Peel back about half way and look at your image. If it hasn’t transferred to your liking, simply lay it back down and give it a couple more presses. Doing this is MUCH easier than trying to realign your plates after you have completely removed it.
I LOVE the texture and details of this stamp! Using my Gel Press plate with this technique allows me to really get a good impression.
Finishing Touches
I wanted to keep this simple, so to finish my project I added a light wash of paint over the words (still allowing the words to be seen) and a few leaf stamps just to tie the two sides together.
Here is the finished project again:
Closing Thoughts
For this project, I kept my journaling to a single statement:
“We will not be shaken…and in that we are thankful.”
Life is hard. There is no denying that. But..in case no one has told you… so are you.
You do not have to be shaken by the hard stuff in life. When times get hard, hold fast to the victories you have already had and be thankful for those times.
Sometimes just focusing on what challenges you have already won can help give you strength to make it through the next.
Don’t be shaken. Be thankful and find your strength in that.
Until Next time,
XOXO
