Things to remember about creating your own patterned paper:
- Vary the size and shape of the patterns. In my layout, I used the overall denim pattern for adding texture then combined the small lines, medium coral, and large shells.
- Limit the color palette to three or less. Use different shades of each color to add depth and interest. I used tone-on-tone colors when creating my paper to "quiet the chaos."
- Add texture with distressed or inked edges, book pages, fabric or ribbon.
- Add contrast to make the photo pop. Mat lighter photos on darker paper, etc.
I have an idea for all of that scrapbook paper you're hoarding. How about printing on them with the 12x12 Gel Press Plate?
We'd love to see your creations on our Facebook group, Gel Press Junkies.
